Powered by GIS Planning's site location tool, the upgraded website provides immediate access to in-depth information and high-level demographic information to support City of Edmonton's economic investment business facilitation programs.

EDMONTON, AB – The City of Edmonton’s Regional and Economic Development Department has launched a new online tool that caters to the needs of today's businesses seeking to establish or grow in Edmonton, Alberta.  EdmontonIndustrialLand.ca is a site location facilitation tool that makes information, research and analysis about industrial development instantly accessible to community stakeholders, site selectors and businesses making location decisions.

"Edmonton is a competitive city that cultivates knowledge and innovation, attracts and retains skilled and motivated labour," said Ken Mamczasz, Economic Investment and Development Director. "The city has the quality infrastructure needed to support industrial and economic development. EdmontonIndustrialLand.ca helps us showcase those assets and tell our story in a more dynamic way."

Powered by GIS Planning, an industry leader in economic development software, the streamlined site location tool is mobile-friendly and offers access to the latest business intelligence tools. As site selectors or prospective investors assess possible locations, they can now obtain robust, high-quality, block group level data on thousands of variables in one place.

Existing or prospective business owners and entrepreneurs can research, analyze and export regional data on demographics, consumer spending, labour force, business, industry, infrastructure, and other points of interest. These data tools allow businesses to search and analyze available commercial and industrial sites and buildings, in order to choose the location that best meets their criteria.

“The City of Edmonton is leading the development of a number of resources to assist business owners who are getting started as well as those who are promoting Edmonton as a place to do business.” said Ken. “It means the business community we serve will now have incredible access to data and other market insights, as well as other pieces of information they need to make smart, informed decisions.”

“Market research shows more than 97% of site selectors will research business locations online before contacting city officials," explains Pablo Monzon, managing director of GIS Planning, which built the location analysis tool. "With EdmontonIndustrialLand.ca, the City of Edmonton is open for business 24 hours a day, seven days a week."

Visitors to the site can also access a variety of other user-friendly data visualization and research widgets, including a community profile infographic, demographics data tool, community comparison tool, smart mapping tool, and business data tool.
